Equipping the e-bike for the beach?
« on: February 12, 2015, 02:56:42 AM »
What can I do (to my e-bike, of course) to be able to ride it on the beach? Change the tires? Or, not even that? Any kind of advice would help :)

I used to ride bicycles on the beach.  The fatter the tire, the better.  And fenders and mud guards go a long way to keeping sand out of the bearings, crank, chain rings, chain, etc.  Sand and salt water is rough on a bicycle.  Either use a 'beater' or be sure to wash it after every ride.

Also, seal all electrical connections with silicone caulk or marine sealer.  Salt air will seep into every connection and Condensation will wick up the wires causing corrosion of the copper inside the insulation.
